Breeze Cafe & Grill sits comfortably along Marsden Road in Paihia, drawing a steady flow of locals and visitors who appreciate a casual, sea-view spot to settle in with good coffee and satisfying breakfast fare. As a cafe, it strikes a balance between laid-back vibes and well-attended service, making it a reliable choice for morning catch-ups, weekend brunches, or a mid-day pitstop.

The atmosphere is relaxed with an emphasis on the waterfront setting — the large windows showcase the harbor, adding a sense of calm that complements the easygoing staff. This is the kind of place where you can swing by for a quality black coffee or a thoughtfully made chai latte, both of which have received nods from frequent patrons for their authenticity and consistency.

Breakfast is a highlight here, with an approachable menu that leans comfort-forward but with fresh local ingredients. Dishes like the Bacon & Eggs, Eggs Benedict, and the Full Monty breakfast fit the classic Kiwi breakfast mold but with a bit of an upscale twist in presentation and portion sizes. There's an easygoing appeal to items like the salt & pepper squid and hot chips — the latter not always advertised but worth asking about for a snack that pairs well with the coffee or a glass of wine later in the day.

Locals tend to enjoy Breeze Cafe & Grill as a morning or late-morning stop, especially around weekends when the view and vibe come alive with people soaking up Paihia’s slower pace. The staff’s friendly approach adds to the welcoming feel, inviting regulars and newcomers alike to linger a little longer.

One subtle pleasure is the variety of sweet options, such as waffles with peanut butter sauce or pancakes dotted with banana and bacon — these are treats that work well for those craving something beyond the standard breakfast fare. Carrot cake and apple puffs with chocolate topping have also earned favorites status, offering a good balance to the more savory side of the menu.

Overall, Breeze Cafe & Grill is best suited for anyone after hearty breakfast classics with quality coffee in a spot that feels both connected to Paihia’s coastal charm and down-to-earth in its approach. Arriving in the morning hours can guarantee a quieter experience, while weekend brunch crowds inject a lively, community feel that many locals appreciate.

Everything is wow about this cafe. From the Staff, to location and that see view vibe. Amazinggg. Chai Latte and Coffee was proper. Their Apple puffs with chocolate toppings are out of this world.

Was looking for all day breakfast in Paihia and found Breeze cafe! I was very happy with my visit, the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious! One of the best chai tea lattes I’ve had since being in New Zealand!

This is my favourite cafe in the area. I’ve had numerous coffee’s and breakfasts here and there is no-one that compares in the area, including Kerikeri. The staff are so lovely, the views are amazing and food never disappoints. Very reasonable pricing, breakfast from $17.

Came here on a Sunday morning just before lunch. Looking for a coffee and a view. Ended up with the coffee, view and hot chips. The chips aren't mentioned on the menu board but after a quick question we discovered we could get them. They are delicious, crispy, and we're piping hot. It would have been nice to have some sauce on the side instead of the small amount on the top but we also didn't ask for that afterwards so I'm sure they would have provided it if we requested. We were staying in and made this clear when ordering but our coffees came in takeaway cups which aren't recyclable. There were proper cups available so this would have been better, for the environment and for the taste of the coffee. As for the coffee, it was really good. It was smooth and at a very drinkable temperature.
